Most drywall damage isn't complicated to fix, but it's easy to mess up if the texture doesn't match or the patch isn't sanded flush before paint goes on. That's the part that actually takes skill — anyone can screw a piece of drywall over a hole, but making it disappear is a different job.

What we typically get called out for

The most common calls are nail pops, door-knob holes, corner bead damage, and cracks around window and door frames from a house settling. We also handle bigger repairs — water damage from a roof leak or a slow plumbing leak behind a wall, holes from accidental impact, or sections that need to come out entirely because the drywall's been sitting wet and the paper backing has started to break down. Small stuff we usually knock out same-day. Anything involving fresh joint compound needs a little dry time between coats, so bigger repairs with texture and paint might take us two to three visits over a few days.

Texture matching is the part people underestimate

Southern California homes built in different decades tend to have different wall textures — orange peel, knockdown, smooth, skip trowel, sometimes a heavier hand-troweled texture in older custom homes. Before we patch anything, we look at what's already on the wall and match our spray pattern and mud technique to it. A patch that's structurally fine but doesn't match the surrounding texture will still show under the right lighting, so this is where a lot of our experience actually shows up — knowing how wet to mix the mud, how far back to hold the hopper gun, and how long to let it set before knocking it down.

Water damage repairs

If the damage is from moisture, we don't just patch over it. We cut out the affected section, check what's going on behind the wall, and make sure whatever caused the leak has actually been addressed — either by you, your plumber, or your roofer — before we close the wall back up. Patching over an active leak just means you're paying for the same repair twice.

Estimates

Every estimate is free and we do it in person. Repairs vary a lot in scope — a single drywall dent is a very different job than a water-damaged section of ceiling — so we'd rather look at it than guess over the phone.
